So N and I were having breakfast yesterday morning and I told him I was tired because I hadn't slept much that night. He asks, "Was it because you were excited about getting your new iPhone?" Posted via LiveJournal.app. |

| | Recycle - Nektar | ] | So I have a bunch of Graphic Novels I'd like to sell, but haven't gotten any takers on craigslist. I currently don't feel like bothering with ebay (though I may). I was wondering if there was a website that dealt with people looking to trade books. Yup, http://www.bookcrossing.com/ So I may wind up going that route. |

"It's not the $4, it's the control".
Yes, building a pot out of position with a blind raise from a random hand is a great way to keep control.
In fact, he had so much control, I made $500 in the game. |

| | Brickworks - Pain of Salvation | ] | Suffolk Law. I mailed the letter of intent today. The full scholarship was just too good to pass up (not to mention the fact that they are an excellent school, just not that well-known outside the area. They have a fabulous reputation in the area, especially in the areas I am most interested in (IP/Patent law and Criminal Law).
So the final results were:
BC - accepted, only loans offered (subsidized and non-subsidized) BU - waitlisted Harvard - rejected Northeastern - accepted, $8,500/year scholarship, plus some loans (subsidized and non-subsidized) Suffolk - accepted, full scholarship, loan (subsidized) |

This one is really sick.
Blinds are 100-200 with a 25 ante. I have about 5K in chips. I have T9o in the small blind. 3 limpers, so I call of course, and the BB checks. Flop comes 9xx all hearts. I have the T of hearts. I check, BB checks. Guy bets 600. Folded to me. I ship all my chips in. BB folds' and the bettor tanks for 5 minutes. He has about 10K, and finally calls. I figure to be a slight favorite if it takes him that long to call. He turns over 34o, with the 3 of hearts and a gutshot straight. I turn the T giving me top-two pair. And he rivers his 3-outer gushot.
NHS, WP! I was only an 80% favorite on the flop and an 85% favorite on the turn. |

It looks like the car needs $2200 worth of work: both axles and the radiator. The car has almost 90,000 miles on it, so it's not THAT nuts, and it pretty much has never needed more than a water-pump since we got it. But still, ugh. |

| ATLARGE NL tournament |
[Mar. 15th, 2009|07:45 am] |
So I finished 4th, which was disappointing, as I really wanted to a) win (of course) or b) finish top 3, as I would have netted at least $1,000. I still netted $600 after paying Bob Lauria his 1/6th share (Bob was trying to buy 1/6th of the entire field, but only got 7 of us. But Dilligaf was one of his horses too, so good horse picking, Bob! And yay, I finally got to give money to someone backing me! :-) Dilligaf came in 8th or something like that and Action Bob won it. I had some key hands with Action Bob that turned the tournament for me, which I'll get around to posting about some time. All were very close decisions everyone agreed. I did outplay him one hand, or at least avoided getting outplayed myself, which I was very proud of. ;-)
Plus I got to have Greg Raymer sweat me at the final table, which of course was great fun.
I came in 20th or so in the TOC on Friday (no money, though), so I have a shot at best all-around if I have a very high finish in today's Stud Hi-Low tournament. Last year I took 4th in it. My mom is here this year and last time that happened back in 2004, I won the stud tournament. |
